It's just hair!!

Can you mourn hair? I had my son's hair cut and now I'm sad, five months later. I miss it. Will it still be curly if he grows it out again?

Earlier this year, shortly after this photo was taken we had his hair cut. We were pressured, bullied even, to cut my son's hair. Why the delayed reaction? What took me so long to miss his hair?

PRIDE...wanting to think I hadn't bowed down to the wishes of other people who think little boys shouldn't sport long hair. Well mine did and I MISS IT!! All because other people think little boys should have crew cuts.

Not that short hair is bad or that it looks funny, it is still cute. I just miss his curls. His father has short hair and is the most beautiful guy I've ever laid eyes on.

The bottom two photos are now a year old. Now Jet's hair is short and Nick's hair is long.

My hair is almost EXACTLY the same as it was a year ago. But I am growing it out, which is code for really too busy (lazy) to keep it any certain style right now. I can't possibly get my hair cut every two to three weeks, I'm just not that frilly!

It's just hair!

Oh how I can totally relate to this one http://tinyurl.com/584ohj
I am getting pressure from everywhere and I have yet to cave. It is getting hard though. Also my son does not have the curls like you son does (did) sorry. He is adorable though regardless of his hair. Remember you can always grow it back.

Saw you over on Mommy Gossip—GNO and at #gno last night. So excited to see your travel post this week! This one made me sad, thinking of when I cut my son's hair. He was born with a full head of the most beautiful red hair that kept growing and growing and growing. At a certain point, it was TIME. We were all sad too, so I know how you feel.

"See" you next week at #gno. In the meantime, check out the other moms on Mr. Linky. Cajun Mama wrote an excellent post about traveling to NY at Thanksgiving. Mine was more fitting with the Halloween theme--BATS!

I used to work as a stylist. Last week I trimmed my daughters hair & gave her bangs for the first time. It's freaking me out now. It makes her look older! Yikes!! I found your great blog on #GNO :) Nice.

P.S. both your guys are cuties ;)

My brother was the cutest! He had the greatest little curls and the most charismatic smile. Everyone pressured my Mom to cut his locks. She did. And he got the "boy-appropriate" crew cut. I think she always disliked the pressure, too.

Great blog. Sometimes it is interesting that the "smallest" thought can envoke strong feelings.

I went to a military high school where we were required to keep our hair cut no longer than two inches and tapered military style on the sides.

I hated it so much, when I was out of there at 18, I let my hair grow to shoulder length and left it there all through college.

Mothers, ask your kid how he wants his hair and leave it there. Forget outside pressure or you will create a rebel like I was and still am.
